The University of Arkansas at Monticello women's basketball team suffered a 59-52 loss to Incarnate Word on Wednesday afternoon.

The Cotton Blossoms (1-4) shot 37 percent from the field (20-of-54), 11 percent from three-point range (2-of-17) and 59 percent from the free-throw line (10-of-17). Individually, junior Nykita Gordon led the team with 11 points after connecting on 4-of-7 field goal attempts and 3-of-5 foul shots.
Sophomore Jerica Hubard also reached double-figures with 10 points on five field goals.

 

The Lady Cardinals (3-1) shot 41 percent from the field (22-of-53), 60 percent from three-point range (6-of-10), and 60 percent from the foul line (9-of-15). Nia Torru led all scorers with 18 points, followed by Jasmine Smith with 15 and Katherine Frost with 12.

 

The Cotton Blossoms have more than a week off before hosting the 2nd Annual Holiday Inn Express Classic on Friday and Saturday, December 4-5.
