The Travelers won their third consecutive game behind starter Matt Shoemaker's fourth complete game and second shutout of the year, defeating the Midland Rockhounds 5-0 on Friday, July 8, at Dickey-Stephens Park. An announced crowd of 4,611 saw the first game the Travs played without No. 1 prospect Mike Trout since he was called up early Friday morning.

Baseball America's No. 2 prospect in major league baseball Mike Trout is a big leaguer. The Los Angeles Angels called Trout up from class AA Arkansas early Friday morning as a result of centerfielder Peter Bourjos' hamstring injury on Thursday night against the Seattle Mariners. Trout is expected start in centerfield on Friday night against Seattle.

While Monday's game will be made up on May 12, tonight's game will be made up tomorrow as part of a double-header. This marks the fifth rainout for the Travs in the past six days and the fourth postponement in a row.
