Jack Harold Jones Jr. is on death row for the killing of Mary Phillips and an attack on her 11-year-old daughter.

It's the first execution date Beebe has announced since a court ruling cleared the way for the state to resume lethal injections.

In October the Arkansas Supreme Court upheld a state law aimed at stopping a challenge to Arkansas' lethal injection procedures. Arkansas' attorney general says Jones and two other death-row inmates -- Don William Davis and Stacey Eugene Johnson -- have exhausted their appeals.

Execution dates for Davis and Johnson are expected to be announced this year.

Arkansas last executed an inmate in 2005.
