Spokeswoman Dina Tyler says inmate Chuck Flowers was pronounced dead at 8:30 Monday morning. Flowers was serving a 20-year prison sentence out of Sevier County for commercial burglary.

Tyler says Flowers worked in the prison's agricultural program and was putting feed in a trough for dairy cows when he become entangled in the farm equipment. Tyler says he suffered severe trauma to his shoulder and to a leg.

Tyler says the Correction Department is investigating, along with Arkansas State Police. She says it appears to be an accident and that safety shields were engaged on the equipment when Flowers was using it.
