
The University of Arkansas Razorback Athletic Department will work in conjunction with the Chamber of Commerce in organizing participation from its coaches and student-athletes.
"We appreciate the efforts of the Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce in helping create this great new community event," UA Vice Chancellor and Director of Athletics Jeff Long said. "The Razorbacks are an integral part of the University of Arkansas and the community. Razorback athletic events bring more than one million people together in Northwest Arkansas annually. We are excited about this year's pep rally and are looking forward to making 'Rockin' with the Razorbacks' an annual event celebrating the Razorbacks and our community."
The first "Rockin' with the Razorbacks" will be held Fri., Nov. 6, 6-9 p.m., at Center Court of the Northwest Arkansas Mall. The event will be held in conjunction with the Sat., Nov. 7 football game against South Carolina.
The event is family friendly, free of charge and open to the public. "Rockin' with the Razorbacks" will include a pep rally with Chuck Barrett, the Voice of the Razorbacks, serving as Master of Ceremonies, Razorback men's track and field Chris Bucknam, the Razorback Spirit Squads and Mascots and the Razorback Marching Band.
"Our 'Rockin' with the Razorbacks' pep rally in Up Town Fayetteville is going to be one of the largest Razorback events held in Fayetteville every year," CEO and President of the Fayetteville Chamber of Commerce Steve Clark said. "I believe this pep rally will become a 'must do' experience for all Razorback fans. We hope this event contributes to the excitement of a Razorback football game and brings fans to Northwest Arkansas for yet another exciting event."
Razorback coaches and student-athletes and Miss University of Arkansas, Amy Crain, will be present for autographs and photo opportunities from 7-8 p.m. Those signing autographs include members of the men's and women's basketball teams, the men's and women's tennis teams, the baseball team, the men's track and field team, and the volleyball, women's golf and gymnastics teams. Head coaches in attendance include Mark and René Cook (gymnastics), Robert Pulliza (volleyball), Shauna Estes-Taylor (women's golf), Michael Hegarty (women's tennis) and Bucknam (men's track and field).
Concessions, music, face painting and door prizes are also on the schedule.
