BEARS TO PLAY TV GAME

UCA's home game against UT Arlington on Saturday, Feb. 20 at the Farris Center will be broadcast live by the Southland Network as part of the 16-game package for 2009-10.

"We're always exciting to get a chance to showcase our program on television and across the region,' said UCA head coach Rand Chappell.
"Our players get excited about that and it's something we want to offer them. I think the televised game here last year against Texas State, we had a great crowd and a great atmosphere and I think we'll do that again this time.'

The broadcast schedule features 10 men's games and six women's games in the second year of the network. The schedule begins Saturday, Jan. 9 when Stephen F. Austin travels to Sam Houston State. The men's and women's semifinal rounds as well as the women's championship game of 2010 State Farm Southland Conference Basketball Tournament will be included in the package. The men's championship game will be televised by ESPN2.

ESPN Full Court will pick up at least five of the Southland TV games for inclusion on its pay-per-view broadcast package and will simulcast those games on ESPN360.com. Additionally, all 16 basketball games will be streamed live for free on SLC NOW, the live on-demand audio and video portal on Southand.org.

"We are very pleased to again announce a very attractive basketball package on the Southland Network,' said league commissioner Tom Burnett. "After televising the highest number of basketball games in conference history on the network last year, we are excited about matching that with 16 more broadcasts in 2010. Additionally, the Network provides great viewing access for the conference tournament, and many of our games will also be available to a national audience."
