The news was made official today when the PGA TOUR released its 2010 schedule. It marks the ninth time the tournament will be played the week prior to the Open since the tournament's inception in 1958.

The 2010 U.S. Open will be played at Pebble Beach (CA.) Golf Links.

"The week prior to the U.S. Open is considered a prime date on the PGA TOUR schedule," said Phil Cannon, SJC tournament director. "Most tournaments on the PGA TOUR would have been extremely envious of the field we had during this year's tournament, and I'm certain next year's field will be just as strong."

Defending champion Brian Gay is expected to return to TPC Southwind to defend his title. The purse for next year's SJC will be $5.6 million with the winner receiving $1,008,000.
