Right now, it's nothing but a 12-acre site with electricity poles and a chain link fence. But the beauty shines threw though in its backyard, with a view that is adored by Arkansans and tourists alike.

"You?re not out in a field swatting mosquitoes and burning a citronella candle looking for something to do. You're right in the heart of the city," says Bob Major with the North Little Rock Chamber of Commerce.

That's why Major is working to transform the lot into an RV park. He calls it a dream on the banks of the river.

"They need a place to stop and visit and what better place than right here in North Little Rock," says Major.

For years tourists driving over the Interstate 30 bridge have looked down and seen the incredible view. In fact, the chamber says it?s many of those people that gave them the idea to build the park.

No doubt, Major says it has become the number one request, especially from visitors at the Clinton Library. So after a year of planning, construction is about to begin.

"It?s a North Little Rock venue but it is something both sides of the river can share," Major explains.

The electrical lines will be taken down and moved under ground. The fence will be traded in for lower wooden posts, and the gravel will be paved.

Major says, "It will be just like I said, a 75 room hotel. Stay a day. Stay a week."

Major believes the economic impact will be bigger than expected, with shops, restaurants, and tourist attractions within walking distance. There's already a waiting list with hundreds booked over the course of next year.

"From what we can tell it's a pretty unique situation for us," says Major.

A true gem, Major says, that's about to reveal its true potential.

The RV park is expected to open in late August or early September, with room for 65 to 70 RV?s.

City leaders still don't have a name picked out for the park. If you have any suggestions, you can e-mail the North Little Rock Visitors Bureau by clicking the link below the pictures and using the contact information listed at the bottom of the homepage.
