Violence shuts down an Arkansas School. A fight at Marvell High School forced school officials to send kids home this morning. The actual fight happened Thursday after school when kids were loading the busses. High school officials say they believe seven or eight boys are involved. But that fight alone didn't close down the school. It was ensuing threats after the violence. Marvell schools recently consolidated with neighboring Elaine schools. Marvell School Superintendent Ulicious Reed says a small group of Marvell High students and a small group of kids from Elaine might have been the ones fighting each other. And Reed says he heard there were threats of more fighting today. So when school opened, Reed said he personally observed rising tensions among a large group of students congregating on the gymnasium floor. Reed says they disregarded his orders to sit in the stands. So he ordered the busses to return and all high school kids be sent home.

Reed says the school is investigating who was involved. He has a list of possible students, including a couple of boys from Elaine, who just returned to school this semester following expulsion from a similar fight last semester.

Superintendent Reed said the threats he's investigating involve physical fighting. He says the violence and threats, to his knowledge, do not involve weapons. Only Marvell High school is shut down. Classes will resume on Tuesday.
