The Butler Center for Arkansas Studies has uncovered and original home movie with scenes from the 1957 Little Rock Central High desegregation crisis.

The Butler Center for Arkansas Studies has uncovered an original home movie with scenes from the 1957 Little Rock Central High desegregation crisis.

The film was presented to the Butler Center during Home Movie Day, and event held this summer to promote film preservation.

This particular video, delivered in a plastic sack, holds images of the Little Rock Nine arriving at Central High School in September of 1957, The U. S. Army?s 101st Airborne division escorting the Little Rock Nine into the school, troops with bayonets lining the streets and images of an empty Central High School.

The film is available to view online at the Encyclopedia of Arkansas History & Culture. The film will also be showing continuously at the Butler Center at 100 Rock Street on Sept. 24 and 25.
