Postal inspectors say a tractor-trailer loaded with mail was stolen and set on fire in central Arkansas.
The truck was on its way to Detroit from Dallas when the driver stopped at North Little Rock, where a company that does contract work hauling mail is located. Police say the truck was taken in North Little Rock, then burned in Beebe.
The fire was early Sunday and investigators say an accelerant was used to start the fire.
Police arrested 40-year-old Gary Clause of Searcy while he slept in the cab of the truck. He was taken into custody at a nearby rest stop, along with pieces of stolen mail.
None of the mail was destined for Arkansas.
Police say they don't know why the money was taken. Clause is being held at the Pulaski County Jail. If convicted, he faces 5 to 25 years and a $250,000 fine.
