Little Rock ranks in the top ten cities nationwide with the most asthma and allergy sufferers.
"It's not surprising because allergies cause asthma. And in this state, even though it is a natural state, it makes us have more pollen and more trees and plants and all that sort of stuff, so we have a lot of allergy sufferers," said Dr. Macy Graham, a asthma and allergy specialist.
The Asthma and Allergy Foundation of America conducts the studies and ranks Little Rock eight out of 100 cities for allergy suffers, and tenth for asthma suffers. Little Rock has a high asthma ranking because it has a higher death toll from the condition. Also, Arkansas hasn't passed all three smoking bans. They include restaurants, workplaces and bars.
"The most important thing is, if you have asthma or allergies, you need to have the appropriate diagnosis so you know what you are allergic to. There are indoor and outdoor allergens."
