NEW YORK (AP) -- New York City police have arrested a 23-year-old man for allegedly throwing Islam's holy book into a toilet at Pace University on two separate occasions. Stanislav Shmulevich of Brooklyn faces hate crime charges. The Quran was found in a toilet at Pace's lower Manhattan campus by a teacher on October 13. Police say a student discovered another Quran in a toilet on November 21. Muslim activists had called on Pace University to crack down on hate crimes after the incidents. As a result, the university said it would offer sensitivity training to its students.
