Imagine not having warm clothes to endure the cold temperatures of winter, or a family of four having only one pair of shoes to share for walking through the snow.
Sounds pretty extreme, but its exactly what members of the Judsonia Church of Christ say projects like Saturday?s shipment of supplies and clothes to the Ukraine and Tajikistan will stop.
About twenty members of the church endured the summer heat in an old warehouse filled with an assortment of supplies. The group has been moving medical equipment, beds and clothes into the trailers for shipment overseas. Saturday's load is their second in as many days.
?It's just joining human compassion and sensitivities and concerns with one another,? said Minister John Kachelman. ?We receive emails and letters from the people that receive these items. These letters are filled with gratitude for what we're doing.?
This marks the seventh year the church has sent containers to foreign 10 tons valued at more than $600,000.
In October, the minister will join doctors and dentists and travel to Ukraine. The group will train European personnel how to use the medical equipment.
