Between 40 and 50 Little Rock students are going to beautiful lengths to help cancer patients.

The students at Mount Saint Mary Academy have teamed up with the ?Pantene Beautiful Lengths? campaign. The program provides wigs made of real hair to cancer patients.

"Not everyone can donate money, but they can give their hair. It's a great way to give back," said Catherine Tapp, the ambassador for the ?Pantene Beautiful Lengths? program.

"I haven't cut my hair since 8th grade and I'm a junior at Mount Saint Mary, so I'm kind of attached, but it's hair it'll grow back," said Olivia Jeffery who helped set up the event at the school. Jeffery lost a family member to cancer and now she does all she can to help others suffering from the disease.

All of the hair donated Monday goes to The American Cancer Society to make free wigs for patients.

Since the program started men, woman and children from across the nation have donated an estimated 10,000 ponytails. It takes three to eight ponytails to make one wig.
