Joe Kleine now adds a new line to his impressive resume. He's now an assistant basketball coach for Division One University of Arkansas at Little Rock (UALR).
Athletic director Chris Peterson and head coach Steve Shields announced Kleine's hiring at a noon press conference Tuesday. UALR needs to shake things up after two losing seasons in a row. In announcing Kleine, Shields pointed to Kleine's obvious input on the development of big men as a big reason for Kleine?s arrival.
UALR was 13-17 in 2006. They were 14-15 this past season.
Kleine left the press conference and immediately started studying for his compliance exam he'll take Wednesday morning. This is given to all prospective college coaches to make sure they understand the recruiting rules. Once he's given a "do pass" he'll then hit the recruiting trail.
