Customers wouldn't know burglars targeted Frances' Flower Shop the night before Cupid's holiday, unless they see the evidence left behind.
Around 10:30 Tuesday night, police say the suspects shattered the front door with a brick to get in.
"It did not make us not open. We, we're open,? says employee Sarah Lee.
Lee has been working at Frances? for eight years, but the shop has been open for 54. That's 54 Valentine's Days and thousands of romance-filled deliveries gone smoothly.
But the sweet streak ended Tuesday night, when police say witnesses across the street heard glass break and saw three black men running from the scene.
They took off in a green Honda with an Arkansas license plate of 533 KIG
"It was really sad that anybody would just come in and take something on Valentine's Day. I mean if they wanted to rob a shop, why not another day? This is when we worked hard, long hours and put a lot of money into it," explains Lee.
She says they stole $2,000 worth of merchandise, mostly gift baskets ranging in price from $25 to $300. And get this, the thieves also got away with a gigantic $140 teddy bear.
Employees say the crooks also broke into the cash register, but there was no money inside.
All day, staff worked extra hard putting together new gift baskets and flower arrangements so every customer would get their Valentine delivery on time.
Lee says, "We're going to rise to the occasion, and we're going to open in the morning at 7:30. We never shut down. We keep it rolling.?
A promise this staff guarantees because nothing gets in the way of making future days of love a sweet success at Frances' Flower Shop.
No one got a clear description of the suspects, so police say finding them may be difficult, but detectives are working to track down the get-a-way car.
