The federal Equal Employment Opportunity Commission says $8,500 dollars is to be paid by the owner of a Hardee's restaurant at Mountain Home to a woman fired because she was pregnant. The EEOC said Wednesday a settlement was reached with Hardee's of Southwest Missouri, owner of the Mountain Home restaurant. The agency said the settlement also calls for the company to provide training to employees regarding pregnancy discrimination. A news release from the agency said Lori Donohue was fired shortly after her supervisor learned she was pregnant. The release said the supervisor did not think that a pregnant woman could make biscuits -- Donohue's main duty -- because lifting was involved.
