There was no honeymoon for 21-year-old Samantha Lynn Sevier, 21, and 30-year-old Duane Smith, who wed last week in a quickie ceremony at the Miller County Courthouse.

That's because both bride and groom are prisoners being held at the Miller County jail. Wearing shackles and orange prisoner uniforms, Sevier and Smith were married on July 21 in a ceremony performed by Justice of the Peace Jimmy Hickey.

Although other justices of the peace have criticized Hickey for performing the ceremony, Miller County Sheriff's Investigator Jeff Nix says prisoners can't be denied wedding rights.

Sevier is awaiting trial on two counts of capital murder, one count of arson, one count of hindering apprehension or prosecution and two counts of abuse of a corpse. Sevier was arrested in the 2005 fatal shootings and burning of Patrick Alan Dickey and Billy Drumm the Third near Doddridge.

Smith is in jail for revocation of his probation on three counts of forgery.
