Governor Mike Huckabee has recognized 106 restaurants around the state for their healthy menus. Many of the restaurants are probably known more for their supersized fries than salads. Huckabee and state health officials recognized the restaurants on Thursday with the first Healthy Arkansas Restaurant Awards. The awards are based on factors such as healthy menu alternatives and smoke-free settings. Huckabee says the recognition shows that people can eat healthy food if they choose to. The highest-rated restaurants received the Gold award. The top restaurants honored were Camille's Sidewalk Cafe in Fayetteville, Serendipities Sugar-Free Deserts in Little Rock, a Subway restaurant in Harrison, a Wendy's in Harrison and a Western Sizzlin' Steak House in Harrison.
Dozens of the restaurants honored by Huckabee's awards, however, were fast food franchises throughout the state such as McDonalds, Pizza Hut and Burger King.
