UK department store Debenham's is here to help, with its just-launched divorce gift list service.
Friends and family simply choose from a list of gifts pre-selected with the store's help.
The launch date was anything but random.
Debenham's chose January because it's the busiest month for divorce.
And they're not the first. Newly divorced couples can now look forward to cards, cakes and even parties.
Richard Dodd of the British Retail Consortium says its no surprise retailers are getting creative in this difficult economic climate.
"It's about focusing on what your customers need and want and of course looking for new opportunities, looking for niches or new demands new services you can offer that others haven't thought of," says Dodd.
How receptive friends and family will be to another wishlist after getting through your wedding list, that's another question.
