Kenneth Lee Lawshea was convicted of capital murder as an accomplice in the July 2007 stabbing death of Shirley Barnett-Lambert.

Lawshea claimed he was stabbed by Clarence Kelly while trying to stop Kelly from killing Barnett-Lambert. Kelly is serving 55 years after pleading guilty to first-degree murder.

The judges said they are deferring to a circuit judge who ruled Lawshea's testimony was not credible. The court also said Lawshea knew of plans to kill the woman and did not warn her.
