The U.S. Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives says federal agents took 56-year-old Mark Campano into custody Wednesday after he was released from a hospital.

An ATF spokeswoman says Campano is charged with violating federal firearms and explosives laws.

Authorities say they don't know why he had the arsenal or whether he planned to use the weapons.

Campano told an officer he was loading shotgun shells Monday night when one blew up in his hands, rocking his apartment complex in Cuyahoga Falls.

A message was left Wednesday afternoon for an attorney appointed to represent Campano.
