
The initiative is Conway 2025; it's a way for folks to voice their opinions anonymously on issues they care about and what they'd like to see time and resources dedicated to. It's a new effort to get individuals involved in the cities future.
Conway area Chamber of Commerce employees are hard at work placing these bright green kiosks in high traffic businesses.
Jamie Gates says, "It's a very short survey, it should take 4 or 5 minutes and has 40 top issues. We just ask folks to tell us what is important, what should we be planning for and what should we be addressing."
Gates says Conway is a growing city with new challenges and no one knows the needs of Conway more than those citizens. He continues, "The more people that fill out this survey, the more accurate and true that path will be as we begin to plan."
Charles Nabholz adds, "Having a plan for the next 15-years seemed like the very logical thing to be apart of."
Charles Nabholz is on the seven-member steering committee made up of a cross section of residence, he's lived in Conway his entire life.
Nabholz explains, "We're going to be a sounding board for the community. So it won't be just a wish list it will be something we will prioritize what the folks in Conway want to see happen."
Nabholz says its important folks take the time to fill out the survey because it will make Conway more competitive and attractive for new families and businesses. "Most of those folks are interested in not only seeing what Conway looks like, but what are you going to be like 15-years from now," Nabholz concludes.
Gates says, "We're going to keep growing, we're going to keep investing and this is really just a road map so we end up where we want to 15-years from now."
Surveys will be collected January 31st. Volunteers are needed to write a plan of action, Gates says the finished document should be ready summer of 2010 to present to the Conway City Council. The report will become a strategic plan for the city.
Kiosks will be moved often, but Conway voters can fill out the survey online and register to volunteer by clicking on the link under the picture.
