Today's Living: Spooky Forecast For Retailers

Experts say Halloween sales are a good indicator for what the holiday shopping season will be like.  Retailers are banking on more treats than tricks.

According to the national retail federation the average consumer will spend 56 dollars on halloween items this year, 10 dollars less than last. But some retailers, both seasonal and year-round, say although customers are shopping later in the season, or only buying accessories for costumes they already own, so far sales are up.  Some people give credit to the holiday, saying that people are willing to spend to have a little bit of an escape.  Meanwhile others say price cuts play a huge factor.
