Sheriff Jimmy Dorney says a search warrant was executed Tuesday at the home outside Lamar, about 10 miles southwest of Clarksville, after the department received a complaint.
The Humane Society described the situation as a "puppy mill," saying that the small-breed dogs including Chihuahuas and shih tzus were being bred for money.
The sheriff says two women lived at the property, but he did not release their names because they had not been arrested or charged. He says the seizure of animals continued Tuesday afternoon and that they don't yet know how many dogs were being kept on the property.
