Prosecutor Steps Aside In Lake Village Homicide

Authorities arrested 18-year-old Joshua Griffin of Lake Village for capital murder in the Saturday shooting death of 34-year-old Marcus Brown.

Griffin is the son of Circuit Clerk Josephine Griffin. Deen says in a court motion that he and his deputies work regularly with Josephine Griffin, creating a conflict of interest in the case.

Police say Joshua Griffin shot Brown in the chest as Brown sat in the back seat of a car Griffin was driving. Griffin is in the Chicot County jail without bail.

Josephine Griffin did not return phone calls seeking comment.
