Woman Dies After Being Booked In Sherwood Jail

Officials are investigating the death of an inmate at the Sherwood jail. She died four hours after being booked in.

Sherwood Police Department Press Release:

At approximately 6:46 a.m. a white female was found unresponsive in the cell area at the Sherwood Police Department Jail Facility.

Jamie Flower, 28, had been arrested by the State Police and brought into the Sherwood Jail Facility at approximately 5:30 pm. on Wednesday, September 23, 2009. Approximately 4 hours later, jail personnel became aware that Ms. Flower may have ingested some type of controlled substances prior to her arrival at the Jail.

At approximately 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday evening MEMS Ambulance was contacted and transported Ms. Flower to St. Vincent Medical Center in Sherwood. Ms. Flower was released from the hospital and brought back to the jail at 11:30 p.m.

The Pulaski County Coroner was notified and the death is under investigation at this time.

Ms. Flower did not list an address when booked in to the Jail, stating that she was homeless. Her family, which is out of state, has been notified.

Flower was arrested for tampering with evidence and several drug related charges.
