The Arkansas Commission for Public School Academic Facilities and Transportation has voted to removed the Hermitage School District from the state's facilities distress program. That program is part of a state effort to ensure adequate public school facilities throughout the state.
Hermitage was placed on the list -- and has so far been the only district singled out -- in July 2008. The district was flagged because of safety-code violations and violations of state procurement laws.
Officials say the district has come up with an improvement plan to fix problems identified by the state.
