The Batesville Daily Guard reported that Mayor Michelle Davis bonded out of jail Tuesday after she was arrested on suspicion of second-degree forgery and theft, both felonies.

Greers Ferry was among several towns hit hard by a tornado that struck May 2, 2008. More than $10,000 was deposited into a fund designated to help tornado victims, and Davis is accused of taking $2,500 from the account.

The investigation began in May 2009 after a legislative audit of city finances turned up discrepancies in the tornado relief fund.
