According to court documents filed on Wednesday, 45-year-old Mark Gilbert had been forcing two young girls to perform sexual acts and taking nude photos of them for the past two years - possibly longer.
Gilbert was arrested Monday morning shortly after police raided his home on Northridge drive. Police say they found several thousands of nude photos of young girls on Gilbert's computer hard drive and CDs.
The Saline County Crime Investigations Division are currently looking to see if Gilbert posted any of the photos online.
"He was charged with sexual assualt in the second degree. We're looking to see exactly the extent. If he has been distributing the child pornography and what he's doing with that," said Lieutenant Mike Frost from the Saline County Sherrif's office.
Gilbert allegedly coersed the girls by telling them no one else would find out.
The court affidavit shows that the victims' mother learned of the abuse when she found a letter addressed to Gilbert. In the letter, the girl said she no longer wanted to visit the suspect because she was afraid the sexual abuse would continue.
"We will be working with the FBI. We're going to turn all of the evidence to them because they have a much broader range for investigating the distribution of pornography than we do," said Lt. Mike Frost on Thursday.
THV talked to Gilbert's neighbors who said they didn't want to be identified but said Gilbert lives alone and works as a mechanic at a transmission shop in Mabelvale.
Lt. Frost says he has no previous records with the sherrifs office.
