Alamo has added Houston attorney Don Ervin, who represented televangelist Jim Bakker after his sentencing for mail and wire fraud. Ervin helped with Bakker's appeal.

Alamo, 74, who is jailed pending trial next month, earlier hired Danny Davis of California and Texarkana lawyer Jeff Harrelson. Alamo is charged in a 10-count federal indictment that alleges he transported young girls for sexual purposes.

Alamo will also need a lawyer to defend him in a civil lawsuit filed by two former church members who allege they were beaten as juveniles. Alamo replaced John Wesley Hall as his attorney in the criminal case, and Hall has withdrawn from the civil matter.
