"I will be back," said Kevin Banks as he left the courthouse Friday.

That statement according to Banks' attorney Lea Elen Folwer means they'll appeal the sentence immediately.

"Clearly it is disappointing when the verdict doesn't go your way, but there is not much you can do about that but move on to the next step," explains Fowler.

In closing arguments, the defense poked holes in the state's case saying they did not prove Kevin Banks did anything, because there was no physical evidence linking banks to the scene.

"Fowler says, "They had to rely on the testimony on the individuals that came forward and that is disappointing."

Lawrence Banks is Kevin Banks' father. He says, "The police says they want to lock all Banks' up. They want to lock all of them up. For what? Some Banks' are doctors some Banks' are lawyers."

Chief Deputy Prosecuting Attorney John Johnson said, "It is the right verdict. It was a fast one, and this jury saw the facts that we had and the witnesses that were brave enough to come forward and they came to a swift and just verdict."

One witness for the state was Kamya's mother's boyfriend Antoine Jones. He's the man that prosecutors say Kevin Banks intended on killing, not Kamya.

"Justice for Kamya will be served," shouted Jones.

During the three day trial, the state presented four witnesses who all said Kevin Banks discussed the murder with them and that he said Kamya's death was an accident. But in closing arguments, Banks' attorney told the jury it's a case built around lies, rumors and speculation. They are witnesses the defense said lied to police in hopes of getting lighter sentences for their criminal history or coerced because of police intimidation.

"We believed in our witnesses from the beginning and with that being said, the jury system is a strange system and you always hope for the best outcome," explains Johnson.

In December, Banks fired dozens of shots into 6-year-old Kamya Weathersby's house. She was hit seven times as she slept.

Banks is not the only person charged in the shooting. So are his two brothers, Rick Smith and Marqus Smith. They will be tried at a later date.

Banks faces a first-degree murder trial in November in connection with the shooting death of a 25-year-old Little Rock man, who was murdered nine days before Kamya's death.
