The State Parks, Recreation and Travel Commission tentatively approved raising camping and lodging rates by 10 percent.
Fewer people are using the parks, and they're trying to make up for the lost revenue. Right now, the cost for camping is $10 to $30.
Cabins and lodge rooms are anywhere from $70 to more than $300. The increase would generate about a million dollars a year. But the hike is open for public comment right now. Then after a public meeting Aug. 19, the commission will have another vote.
