Timothy Ballard's eighteen-year career at Abundant Life School may be in jeopardy as school board members plan to meet to discuss his future there.

Neighbors say this is the first time they've heard anything like this out of the school operated by the Sylvan Hills First Baptist Church.

Ballard was the school's assistant superintendent, high school principal and senior basketball coach.

According to Sherwood police, they received an anonymous call from someone alleging sexual assault by Ballard. Investigators began looking into the charges at the beginning of March.

During that time the school notified parent's about the allegations.

A letter from the school's superintendent assured them that the safety and welfare of their children were not at risk. In a press release, from the Sylvan Hills church, the senior pastor said:

"We are praying for god's healing and strength for all those involved, and we ask that the community remember all of us in their prayers, as well, as we deal with this matter."

Police declined to comment about the arrest but according to the school the victim is at least 18 years-old.

Ballard faces first degree sexual assault, a class A felony.

He'll appear in court on Monday for his arraignment.

Administrators at abundant life school told Today's THV they would not comment on the arrest until Monday. We were unable to reach Ballard's attorney.
