Man Accused Of Killing NLR Teacher In Court

A North Little Rock man charged with murdering his fiancé appeared before a judge Thursday morning. A judge ordered Steven Russell Jr. held on $250,000 bond.

He will also be appointed a public defender.

Russell enlisted in the Army in 2001, but no word though when he left the military.

Tuesday morning, Russell reportedly called police and told officers he'd shot his fiancé, 24-year-old Joy Owens. Owens was a teacher at North Little Rock High School-East Campus. Some of her students spoke to Today's THV Wednesday about Owens.
