Former Garland City recorder-treasurer Janice Hanson was arrested Thursday on a charge of theft of property over $2,500.
Prosecutors say the 51-year-old Hanson was paid $3,000 in salary she didn't earn. Hanson says she feels "not great" and declined further comment.
The 51-year-old Hanson is the second Garland City official to be arrested this week in connection with payroll advances. Mayor Yvonne Dockery was arrested Tuesday when she arrived in Miller County Circuit Court on a previous theft charge.
Prosecutors say Dockery was paid about $5,600 more than she should have received. The theft charge against her is related to the cashing of an unsigned payroll check.
