Over 80 businesses with new ideas and business plans, have made their way to an office off Riverfront Drive in Little Rock. It is Innovate Arkansas, an incubator of fresh, new business ideas.
Created by the legislature in 2007, it's mission was to help raise the per capita income of Arkansans through innovation and new industry development.
Former Little Rock City manager and head of Arkansas' DHS, Tom Dalton visited Today's THV at 6:30, to talk about the process entrepreneurs are going through to make their ideas a reality. While not every business has gotten the green light (over 100 have been told no), the ones who have get advice, business plans, help with marketing and financing.
Agrobotics has developed a small trailer, that when attached to a tractor, allows a farmer to work his fields and get soil samples at the same time.
Farmers can instantly know how suitable their soil is to growing crops. Agrobotics is now demonstrating its new tool, born in Arkansas, to companies all over the south. It is a prime example of how Innovate Arkansas can work.
Keep in mind, they don't finance the projects, but they can help recommend courses of action.
