COTTON PLANT, Ark. (KTHV) - The man accused of raping a child is no stranger to the law. He has a lengthy criminal record.
James Davis, the pastor of Morning Star Baptist Church, is charged with four counts of raping a minor. The victim's family says the girl is now pregnant.
Davis' criminal background begins in 1999 when he got 72 months for manufacture, delivery or possession of a controlled substance. He served time from March to October. He was out in seven months because he went through a boot camp program.
In July of 2000 he was arrested again for violating his parole for a technical violation. He was released in February of 2001.
He then went back to prison in April of 2001 for manufacture, delivery or possession of a controlled substance. He was in prison until June of 2008.
If Davis' parole is revoked again because of his new arrest, he would have to go back to prison until 2028 on the previous drug charge.
