UNDATED (CNN) -- New rules for flying with pets have some United Airlines customers outraged.
United is merging with Continental next month and adopting that airline's pet policy which could cost pet owners up to $1,400 to fly their beloved pets overseas.
But that's from Japan. Not all countries are that expensive.
The extra fees are government mandated costs, not airline costs, United says.
Many military families are starting online petitions in hopes of getting the rules changed.
Each airline has a different policy so it's best to check before you fly with Fido.
