Northside High School cheerleader injured as bullet came through bedroom

FORT SMITH, Ark. (KTHV) - KFSM reports that a high school cheerleader was accidentally shot early Tuesday morning when a bullet went through her bedroom.

KFSM reports friends of 17-year-old Northside High School cheerleader Niesha Forrest say she is hospitalized at this time, as the bullet is lodged in her neck near an artery.

KFSM reports that police say the shooting happened around 3:00 a.m. in a subdivision near Trusty Elementary in Fort Smith. Two homes in the neighborhood were hit during the shooting.

According to KFSM, Fort Smith police are still looking for a suspect. Police say that witnesses woke up to two men arguing in the street. They say that 12 to 15 shots were fired.
