HOUSTON, TX (CBS) -- You've probably heard of wedding planners, or even party planners, now planners are getting into the baby business. It's a trend that's catching on.
If you're expecting, this is a service you might want to consider, baby planners are an up and coming trend. They can help with everything from products to birth plans, and it's becoming especially popular with first-time parents.
Stephanie and Jeff Frey are parents to newborn Wesley and are enjoying every second of it. But nine months ago, the couple was singing a different tune. Stefanie says, "Quickly feeling overwhelmed at what I had to do everything that was in front of us." Jeff says, "Right at the beginning I knew that we needed help customized and specialized attention."
A quick Google search and the Frey's came across "Premier Baby Planning," the brain child of Sheneq Aranda who found that while researching products during her own pregnancy and other moms would seek out her advice. She says, "I found myself counseling them on how to find the best stroller hmm, maybe this is a good business model and so premier baby planning was born."
Baby Planning itself, is a somewhat new industry. Stephanie had more common concerns like how to stay healthy during her pregnancy and where to deliver. She says, "She went and researched, called all of the offices found these are the ones that best fit for you." Aranda says, "Finding the labor doula and personal trainer key people in helping me have a healthy pregnancy."
Jeff's main worry is space. The couple lives on the Rice University campus as resident associates. But, Sheneq made from for the Frey's bundle of joy, in their 850 square foot home by making every purchase count.
Stephanie says, "She showed up at the store and out of all the different stroller that are there, she picked up about four these are the ones that you're probably going to want, your prob going to buy these two."
Sheneq tells expecting parents to only buy three months in advance so as to not clutter their home. She says, "Planning for a baby, can be stressful, people don't know to buy most of the time actually in the end, save them some money."
And saving money and time was invaluable for the Frey's who can now spend that precious time with their precious baby. Aranda says, "It's just like a wedding planner, you do that for your wedding this is much more important, I think than a wedding and so why wouldn't you get somebody to help you out through this process."
