PELICAN RAPIDS, MN (CNN) -- If you're a fan of ice fishing and like a nice cold drink while staying warm, there's a new business in Minnesota that's reeling in the customers. Fishermen are finding a fully stocked bar at the "Ice Hole."
There's a new ice house parked on Lake Lida and you can't miss it. The building is bright green and yellow and can be seen from miles away, but it's getting people's attention for more than its siding.
Inside they're doing more than reeling in the big ones. It's actually a fully stocked bar appropriately called the Ice Hole. Ice Hole owner Chris Haugen says, "We cater just to local fishermen, people who want to come out and have a different experience. Just wants to have a beer in a bar on the lake."
Haugen says he came up with the idea last year and with the help of a local bar owner got the liquor license he needed to start serving up drinks. Josie Norgren says, "I didn't know what I needed to do or what we could do or if it was even possible. The more we looked into it nobody told me no so I just kept going."
And now, all eyes are on them. People are practically swimming to the bar on the ice, even if it is just to snap a photo.
So far Haugen has set up one fishing hold. Soon, there will be four that he rents out by the hour for about five bucks. Haugen says, "Gonna do some fishing contests, uh, just for fun."
As word of the bar floats around customers say the two have caught the big one. Haugen says, "It's a good crowd, good people, just a lot of fun." Norgren says, "It's what we do in this region you know. It's ice fishing 20/12."
When you can get a cold beer with your bass, Ice Hole is turning into the hot spot of Lake Lida.
The Ice Hole is on Lake Lida, near Maplewood State Park, a few miles from Pelican Rapids.
