BRYANT, Ark. (KTHV) - A Bryant High School sophomore is doing her part to help less fortunate kids from half a world away.

Shelby Woodall has started her own foundation, Hope for No Hunger, in an effort to offer food and relief to starving children in Kenya.

Woodall is selling bracelets, the proceeds of which will go to the relief effort.

"As soon as I get home from school, I'll do homework and then I'll probably stay up till 11 making bracelets every night," Woodall said.

She has raised between 150 to 250 dollars for Faith. The international group, Child Fund connected them.

"And I kept clicking on other children just to see their description and it kept taking me back to Faith. So I thought that was a sign that I needed to adopt Faith," Woodall said.

Shelby keeps in touch with Faith's parents, uncle and cousin via letters and cards.

She shared where her inspiration for this project began.

"Well I did a 30-hour famine at Chicot Road Baptist Church with my friend, Kathleen. And it really hit me whenever I couldn't go four hours without getting hungry. But they have to go their whole lives basically starving," Woodall said.

"Those people are amazing. And it really helps to help them and give them a better future," Woodall said.

Shelby hopes to expand her fundraising to include t-shirts.

She and her family are working on getting the foundation certified, and she added that they are making progress.

Shelby is also learning Swahili in the hopes of visiting her adopted friend in Kenya some day.
