What is the Summer Cereal Drive?

For the last nine years, "Today’s THV This Morning," in partnership with local businesses, groups, and individuals have teamed up during the summer months by providing healthy breakfast options for children and families in central Arkansas who would otherwise go without the most important meal of the day – breakfast.

The Summer Cereal Drive provides hungry Arkansans with non-perishable breakfast items that are both nutritious and kid-friendly.

Every year, "Today's THV This Morning" helps fight hunger in Arkansas in the summer months. 2009 marks the 10th year of the Summer Cereal Drive. Help us commemorate this special anniversary as we attempt to collect 360,000 boxes for a 10-year cumulative total of one million boxes raised!

Individuals can participate by dropping off cereal at participating Wal-Mart or Brookshire's locations. Click here for locations.

What Counts as Cereal?

• Dry cereal – boxes OR bags

• Cereal/Breakfast Bars

• Pop Tarts

• Oatmeal

• Cream of Wheat

 

Business Teams Rules and
Regulations


• Teams must submit their registration
forms between May 1st and May 29th

• Items must contain at least 9 oz. of
product to be counted as one box

• Teams must submit their totals to the Arkansas Foodbank Network by 3 p.m. on Thursday of each week to be included in the Today’s THV Morning DivisionTotal Announcements

• Teams may start collecting boxes for the competition June 1st – no earlier

• Teams must stop collecting boxes for the competition June 26th at 3:00 p.m.

  • Almost half a million Arkansans
    live in poverty.
  • In 2008, the Arkansas Foodbank Network distributed 9.6 million pounds of food and grocery products to its 450 member food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters and other agencies in 33 central and Arkansas counties.
  • 95% of everything the Foodbank receives goes directly to their programs.
  • For every dollar received the
    Foodbank can provide up to five
