LITTLE ROCK (KTHV-TV)--The American Heart Association's "Go Red For Women" movement kicks off. The month long movement hopes to uncover the truth about heart disease.
Today at the state Capitol, 10 inspiring survivors are on hand along with First Lady Ginger Beebe and others to unveil their portraits that will be displayed and tell their stories. She says, "We're going to educate them and how to eat healthy, how to exercise; so hopefully we can prevent a lot of the diseases and things as we get older."
So were some State represenatives, like Representative Kathy Webb, also a restaurant owner who talked about the importance of exercise and eating right; "As someone who's been in the hospitality arena for a long time, being aware of our diet and change our diet, particularly in the area of portion control."
You can be apart of the movement this Friday, for the 9th annual National Wear Red Day. The American Heart Association, and hundreds of volunteers and survivors, will turn the steps of the state capitol red at noon.
The gallery boards will go on tour throughout central Arkansas to educate women and others about heart disease.
