Today's THV visited a teacher and a student who are doing exceptional work in the classroom. And in both cases, we didn't have to go very far since both of this month's honorees are from Benton.
This month Cade Lester of Hot Springs and Mrs. Jayne Keisler of Malvern are honored.
THV Golden Apple of Excellence
The Golden Apple program has beenexpanded to honor individual teachers and students for academic achievement.
Each month, except June, July and August, one teacher and one student will be honored. Each will be selected based on nominations submitted by anyone who wishes to nominate a teacher and/or student.
Once a month, Today's THV hands out Golden Apples to teachers and students nominated by our viewers. During the process, we meet some remarkable people.
Craig awards two Golden Apples. A teacher at Batesville Middle School and a student at Academics Plus Charter School in Maumelle both received Golden Apples.
We tell parents who are considering moving their children to Norfork that they can expect a very safe environment where the teachers and staff care about and know every child.
The Mountain View school district was one of the first ten schools ever to be named a Golden Apple Award winner and this year they return to the top ten.
Nominations will return in September!
What do winners receive?
Winners will be notified in person by THV Sports Director Craig O’Neill who will present the monthly winners with a THV Golden Apple trophy. Winners will also be recognized on the 11th day of each month (unless the 11th falls on a weekend then the recognition day will occur on the following Monday) on Today’s THV at 6:00 p.m. newscast. Promotional spots will also be produced to honor the winners.
Who selects the Golden Apple winners?
Choosing the monthly winners from hundreds of excellent nominations is the job of the Golden Apple Selection Committee made up of volunteers who are committed to achieving excellence in public schools.
